How to download mods to a flash drive

At first, it worked! But then I realized, when I tried to download new CC, it wouldn't load into the game even though it was in the Mods folder on the D drive. I tried moving the Mods folder back to the C drive (its original place before moving onto new D drive), then back onto the D . Just use a PC, man. I could see moving the mod folder in and out of the game - but not all the play files and the game would - as I said - have to stay installed. Okay:D Thanks.
